Start Coding! :)

Updated: Nov 20, 2022

One day in the fourth grade, I came home from my after school daycare and told my mom I learned how to code. She was quite surprised. She was perplexed on how I even got access to a computer. When she came to pick me up from the after hours day care, she found me programming C code at the lone computer in the corner of the daycare. I was doing incredibly basic coding, like drawing lines and other shapes and coloring them, but it is still a mystery how I figured out how to do that.

After that though I started attending some coding classes. I first started with scratch, a basic block programming platform that teaches you the principles of coding. Even though it is very simple, you can still do pretty sophisticated things with it, including making fun games. I remember being introduced to it and simply making an avatar bounce around the screen. I was fascinated by the fact that I made it happen.

I continue taking coding classes, first Python, then Java. When I started high school, I continued with Java, which is currently the type of coding language I excel in and love. I would highly recommend attending coding camps to anyone in high school or middle school, even if you are barely interested in coding because, who knows, it might just spark up your passion for coding. I am now planning to major in Computer Science in college.
